The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daliy lives.

  In this era of rapid social and technology change leading to increasing life complexity and psychology displacement, people are said to be more and more utilitarianism. They learned to think 'rationally' toward every thing in their daily lives. Consequently, when studying history, it is not suprised to find that someone who narrowly focuses on the part which directly relevant to their daily demand. Although it might not be wrong for them to approach the history in this way, they might lose the more valuable part of historical study.

  In the first place, it is difficult for us to identify which kind of historical study is relevant to people's daily lives.

  In the second place, the aim of historical research is to find out the law of how the human society moving forward. It is true that with the developmen of rapid technology advance the situations has changed, but people still could benefit a lot from historical study. For instance, a painter would learn more about the art works from historical study. They want to study the painting skills and institutions from people preceed them. The politician might want to study the stories that how the famous individuals in the history won in the political activities. In this way they could expect their competitor's strategy and behavior. All of these illustrate the point that
